Stuffed animal drive huge success

Last year we served 58 pediatric patients ages 12 years or younger at the Sexual Assault Treatment Center. Unfortunately this year the numbers are growing, and we are on course to serve nearly 100 pediatric patients in 2016.

We needed your help to fill an important need for these youngsters. As part of the examination process, we provide a medium to large sized new stuffed animal to hold onto and provide comfort. Many of these children have been removed from their homes and have no toys or personal items. Our stuffed animal supply was very low, and we asked for you to help us by bringing in new medium to large sized stuffed animals.

In a two week period over 500 stuffed animals have been dropped off or delivered to our Emergency Department. We could not be more thrilled with the support of our community as we work to provide comfort to our pediatric patients. Because of the overwhelming response, we are running out of storage room. If you have already purchased or collected stuffed animals for the cause, we will gladly take them. If you are planning to help but have not yet purchased a stuffed animal, there are several other ways to help out. We always need child sized robes for the examination, and the patients always love getting their own new blanket. In addition, our Foundation collects funds for the Sexual Assault Treatment Center.

Thank you so much to the hundreds of people who have stepped up to help us. You have all made a difference for our patients during a traumatic time in their young lives.
