Community Hospital Anderson’s Evelyn Bertram MSN, RN was honored at the 2014 Salute to Nurses event. Evelyn received the Inspiration Award. This annual event, sponsored by the Indianapolis Star, honors nurses who have made a difference.
Evelyn Bertram has had a lifelong career in nursing. Evelyn graduated from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1967 and began her career with Community Hospital Anderson, one that has spanned 46 years. Evelyn started with Community as a graduate nurse and worked her way up to Director of the Intensive Care Unit. She has co-authored several articles relating to patient care and served on numerous boards and committees, including the White River chapter of AACN.
Education has always been important to Evelyn. In fact, her choice to become a nurse narrowly outweighed her desire to become a teacher. She has been on the faculty at Ball State University since 2008 and has continued to devote time to teaching since her retirement from Community in September 2013.
